The Power of Women Friends

I’ve been preparing for this next phase of my life for awhile These things don’t happen overnight usually.

As I sat last night ruminating over the upcoming celebration of my life I remembered the women who have molded me, changed me, loved me, supported me, believed in me and were always there, no matter what.

It isn’t that there weren’t also men, but mostly there is that sexual thing that goes on like a film over the communion of communicating. And I honestly believe that, although similar, we are so unlike in so many ways I wonder how we propagate at all.
So, women; how awesome to have women friends. You know they have gone through similar changes and that they understand, unless they have sold out, and then, they aren’t friends anyway. :>)

I didn’t have many women friends in my youth. There was way too much competition for the “guys” and status and all of the stuff that we learn through, like stepping stones out of the pit.

When I did start developing deep and lasting friendships with women I was in my mid- 20′s. They stand like watermarks of power and evolution. And it just got better.

Now, where I stand and look back and hold dear all the women who informed me of who I really was by their example.

Thank you Grandmother Emelia, Aunt Betty, The Barker Girls, The Schroeders, Great Aunt Annie, Helen, Mrs. Daly, Mrs. Koepple, Mrs. Messinger. Arlene Madsen, Mrs. Reckmeyer, Mrs. Fredstrom, Joann, Mom, Denine Collura, Susan Heatherington, Sam, Janet, Krishnapriya, Jyoti, Gautami, Sukanya, Fran, Billy Joe, Jude, Patt, Donna, Loretta,Linda, Genevieve, Ellen, Katy, Kay, Mary, Helen Jordan, Marya Lucca Thyberg, Ree Schonlau, Eddith Buis, Mary Catherine Burgess, Priya, Zulma, Trish, Kathleen, Kate, Leela, Deb, Bambi, Linda, Dixie Clark, Dee, Sylvia, Sandy, Lisa (Vidyarani), Suzanne, Susie, Michele, Sonia, and so many more.

This phase I am now entering is of the real power of women. It doesn’t mean that men are not special to me. I have two sons I connect with in wonderful ways, I adore my 3 grandsons, honor my 3 marriages and still love those men. I hope that more men come into my life.

But they will never be women.
