The Buddha Within
In Buddhist mythology it is said that each new era is served by a Buddha who offers a perfect form of teaching for that time. Maitreya, the Buddha of Love, is the name given to the Buddha who will next appear on earth. However, Zen Master Thich Nhat Hanh has stated that this next Buddha may not appear in the form of a single awakened individual. As our understanding of interdependence grows, he says, “The next Buddha may be the Sangha itself.” That means that collectively we will be the ones helping one another awaken. -Jack Kornfield
We are the next Buddha, the next Christ. We are awakening.
