The Four Aims of Life
Yoga teaches that humans are born with four primary drives.
1-Artha meaning wealth, this does not imply the hoarding of riches. It acknowledges our basic needs for food, shelter, and security.
2-Kama meaning pleasure. The good life is pleasant and comfortable.
3-Dharma, the ethical and virtuous way of life or living in harmony with the divine order of the cosmos.
4-Moksha, or spiritual freedom. This is the knowing that we are something more than body and mind…….self-realization.
Ask yourself these questions:
- Are you taking better care of yourself and your body?
- Are you expressing your creative energies more freely?
- Are you increasingly successful in your work and personal life?
- Are your relationships with others improving?
- Are you more in touch with your true nature?
If you answered yes to these questions it indicates that you are pursuing all four aims of life.
