The Danger of Soy & Milk

I am always interested in food. The way it is grown, how it is harvested, packaged, cooked etc. A few years ago I sent out documentation on what the dairy industry (in cahoots with the Government) did about Milk being something children should have 3 times a day. All a big scam to make dairy corporations more money. And it worked! Most of us bought it sight unseen without any research. Now all that research is everywhere and most people are aware of the harmful side effects of consuming gross amounts of dairy. (I’ve attached that from the blog below)

Looks like the soybean people are now doing the very same thing. Lots and lots of research available, just Google it. I found this little paragraph at www.mercola.com very interesting

The Dangers of Soy

No matter what you may have heard, soy is not a health food. There is a 70 billion dollar industry that funds many studies attempting to show that soy has benefits so that you will consume it. Their goal is to sell more domestic soy. Their goal is NOT your health. Pregnant women in particular should avoid soy completely, with the exception of fermented soy products which have greatly lowered phytoestrogen content.

Telling the Truth
January 23rd, 2008 | Category: Dailies

Telling the truth, you don’t hear much of that anymore, especially on TV. Just watched a commercial about how good milk is for you. Well, maybe if you lived on a farm and your cows didn’t get antibiotics or steroids and who knows what else they get now, and you could digest the protein (which most people have a hard time with the very large molecule in the added Vitamin D, especially small children), then maybe, that milk might be good for you. The point is, there is no general panacea here and we are being lied to all the time.
It could be very useful for each individual to do a little research into their own health instead of being blindly led down the garden path, so to speak. Through a little bit of research then the lies could be exposed and living more in the truth could be available for all.
It certainly is food for thought.

Living Consciously
November 06th, 2006 | Category: Dailies, Miscellaneous

In 1967 or so, when I began an alternative life style in earnest, eating well and responsibly meant that the food was grown organically and locally as much as possible and also that no part of the process harmed anyone.

Since that time much has been published and accomplished in regards to whole food etc, but much has not. Indeed some things have become horribly worse.

That milk piece! What is it that people think they are getting when they drink milk? Certainly not calcium; most humans don’t digest cows milk very well; goats milk is better and even some sheep’s milk, but not from cows. And the law states that a certain amount of pus is acceptable in the final ultra-pasteurized product-yuck! The next time you pick up a dairy product think about this.

I was recently speaking with a local dairy farmer (25 cows) and what he told me about the dairy factories is still reverberating in my ears. Cows injected with chemicals is one thing, but having their uterus’s ripped out and placed in stalls they don’t get to leave until they die and then they are ground up into hamburger. The cows are very stressed out on milking machines pulling gallons of milk a day till they die.

Do you want to be a part of that violent process that treats animals as if they were unimportant? If not, and you would continue to drink milk/cheese etc., find a local dairy farmer, visit the farm, see how the animals are treated.

Rocket Fuel in 93% of Lettuce and Milk
November 03rd, 2006 | Category: Miscellaneous

The National Academy of Sciences (NAS) has released its long anticipated report on the human health effects of perchlorates, a byproduct of rocket fuel. Perchlorates, which are a common pollutant near military sites, have recently BEEN FOUND IN DRINKING WATER IN 35 STATES AS WELL AS IN 93 PERCENT OF LETTUCE AND MILK. Along with the report, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has set drinking water standards indicating that perchlorates are roughly TEN TIMES MORE TOXIC to humans than the Department of Defense has been claiming. Perchlorates can inhibit thyroid function, cause birth defects and lower IQs, and are considered particularly dangerous to children. Monitoring wells across the U.S. are now finding perchlorate levels as high as 30,000 times what the EPA indicates would be safe exposure.

To avoid liability, the Pentagon is currently pressuring Congress to pass a new bill that states the military does not have to adhere to any environmental regulations (as a matter of national security). Please take 30 seconds to send a quick online letter urging your Congressperson to protect the nation’s food and water by reducing perchlorate pollution.

Take action and learn more about this issue here: http://www.organicconsumers.org/perchlorate.htm

Milk-Get over it!
September 19th, 2006 | Category: Miscellaneous

Back in the 1950’s when the Dairy Association paid big bucks to the government to get out the word that children needed milk for strong bones, we have been led down the corporate path of false advertising. Most people cannot even digest the ultra-pasteurized, steroid laden, antibiotic filled and now bovine injections causing cancer after years of prolonged use. To say nothing of allergies, sinus problems, digestive problems that occurs when the undigested dairy turns into mucous in the body-gross!!! Milk, get over it!!! (and cheese, cottage cheese, cream, half and half, it’s in everything!)

If you haven’t heard this story before,

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KZYA2zFsCK8

If you have, it bears repeating.

Of course if you are buying un-pasteurized milk from a local farmer who loves his animals and lets them roam in the fields, doesn’t feed them poisons etc. and you are making your own yogurt with lots of friendly bacteria and so on, you may be one of the few that can actually derive some benefit from the real deal, You will not find this type of milk in any store…..there really isn’t much profit in it.

If it’s calcium you are looking for…….foods and herbs that are rich in that are: salmon (with bones in), sardines, seafood, dark green leafy vegetables (kale, collards, dandelion greens, mustard greens, bok choy etc.), almond, asparagus, black strap molasses, brewer’s yeast, broccoli, cabbage, carob, dulce, figs, filberts, goat’s milk, kelp, oats, prunes, sesame seeds, real yogurt, alfalfa, burdock root, cayenne, chamomile, chickweed, chicory, dandelion, eyebright, fennel seed, fenugreek, flaxseed, hops, horsetail, lemongrass, mullein, nettle, oat straw, paprika, parsley, peppermint, plantain, raspberry leaves, red clover, rose hips, yellow dock.

If it’s Vitamin D you are looking for: exposure (face and arms) to the sun for 15 minutes 3 times a week is an effective way to get all the vitamin D your body needs. Food sources: fish liver oils, fatty saltwater fish, eggs, dandelion greens, cod liver oil, butter, liver, oatmeal, salmon, sardines, sweet potatoes, tuna, and vegetable oils. Herbs: alfalfa, horsetail, nettle, parsley.

Eat better!! Love, Sue
