The World

I haven’t felt much like writing lately, so quotes are good and I just loved the one I received this morning. “The world we are experiencing today is the result of our collective consciousness, and if we want a new world, each of us must start taking responsibility for helping create it.” — Rosemary Fillmore Rhea

Work Hard

I am a hard worker.  I’ve been told that all of my life…….”you are like your Grandfather”.  Gramps ran an 80 acre farm, producing all the food we ate, money for clothing, cars etc.  I never saw him relax except at the end of the day, watching channel 3 farm news.  It was an amazing life, rich with natural beauty, sweat produced results and a firm sense of satisfaction with many jobs done well.
Why?  To what end does that bring me? I have inherited, through the gene pool and most likely grace, this work ethic that propels me to work and work hard.  I don’t have a farm to funnel that energy into anymore and I spin my wheels in sometimes fruitless activities that at least exhaust me enough so that I feel I deserve some rest.

At the end of the day I cannot relax unless I look back and see if I have done enough to rest.

Maybe I need a farm.

Some days are so filled with distractions and the must do lists it leaves me feeling clueless as to where my life is going.  It is even easier to flow along with the events and then look back at the years that have passed and wonder if this is where my life is to be… the busyness.

It’s an old struggle and a life lesson, as it is never far away.  I get to choose, always, but some days I just want to stay clueless.

Emotional Freedom Technique-EFT

In order to attain the life I think I desire, I have utilized many forms of therapy, thought processes, actions and so on.  I find that everything works if my intent behind it is pure and not stuck in the mud with negativity.

Hope, belief, positive emotional energy, propel me towards my goals.

Lately I have been using the very simple and very effective “tapping” on the key meridians of the energy body called EFT.  What I have noticed is a lightening of the issue I am working on and an opening up of my life in more positive directions.

Gary Craig maintains an amazing website with many Master EFT practitioners from all over the globe.  The book can be downloaded for free and the tapping sequences and phrases are also for free.

I am working on key phrases at this site:

It is amazing how light and happy it makes me feel. Check it out:

The Right Path

So, the truth is, there’s not one path. The truth is, there’s not only one right path. The truth is, all paths can be made to be the right path. The truth is, that every individual has a different path. And that different path that every individual is launching incrementally—and amending constantly—that true path is known by Source and is guided by Source if you will pay attention to the way you feel.                                 -Abraham

Kind of lays to rest any excuse to be intolerant of another’s viewpoint.

The Real Work

“The real work is becoming native in your heart, coming to understand we really live here, that this is really the continent we’re on, and that our loyalties are here, to these mountains and rivers, to these plant zones, to these creatures. The real work involves a loyalty that goes back……..billions of years. The real work is accepting citizenship in the earth itself.”

-Gary Snyder

For me, that means that my yard and garden are organic, that I don’t take part in the deeper pollution of our water sources through poisoning weeds and bugs. Poor things- that spreads out a killing karma that has devastating global effects.

For me, it is seeing that even the smallest act I do that is not in harmony with nature affects the whole and we all pay the price.

Accountability and the real work seem to be my mantra these days.

An Indivisible Whole

“One cannot do right in one department of life while still occupied in doing wrong in any other department.  Life is an indivisible whole.”                                   Gandhi

When we look at the spiritually unattended areas of our life, we often find in them underlying judgment or fear. We may believe that the body, or relationships, or future planning, or money, or sexuality, or family, or community, or politics is “un-spiritual,” dangerous, ugly, a trap.  This fear puts up walls, isolates our heart from living, divides the world so that part of it is seen not holy.  Our experiences of realization remain compartmentalized and unfulfilled, like bonsai trees, beautiful but stunted.

The truth is that these interior boundaries must be dissolved.  We need to deeply and honestly listen to whatever has been feared or left out that our freedom will be found.  And if we don’t choose to look, that which is unattended will come find us; the lost parts of ourselves will present themselves, knocking ever louder if we don’t listen to their cries.  We end up hearing their voices in divorce or depression, in illness or some strange failure.  If we do listen to and welcome all parts of the self, we will find they enrich our garden as compost, as nourishment for life itself.                         -Kornfield

When we walk to the edge of all the light we have and take that step into the darkness of the unknown, we must believe that one of two things will happen:  There will be something solid for us to stand on, or we will be taught how to fly.                                                                    –Patrick Overtor

Our Wounds

According to an old proverb, it is only in times of despair that the pupil seeks the teacher. This shows that suffering and disappointment are the ways that we grow spiritually and psychologically.   We heal through our wounds.

As a meditation teacher since 1979, I was delighted to read Abrahams quote below.  Really ties in the Law of Attraction and Meditation and how well they work together.

“Do you have to change your vibration on a particular subject in order to let it in?” No, you don’t. You could pet your pet and let it in. You could sit with your feet dangling in the bay, and let it in. If it is a subject that you often think of in an attitude of resistance, it is really worthwhile reaching for some thoughts that feel better. You could launch an intention and never think about it again, and the Universe would yield it to you. You don’t have to clean up your vibration relative to anything, if you can just not think about it any more. That’s why we teach meditation. It’s easier to teach you to have no thought than to have pure positive thought. When you quiet your mind you stop thought; when you stop thought you stop resistance; when you stop resistance–then you are in a state of allowing.”

Those Kids

“Parents can’t choose the mates of their children or the behavior of their children. You actually can’t choose anything for your children without dis-empowering them.”     Abraham

Ouch!  Now why is this so hard to allow?

In some way, as I reflect this morning on the events of 9/11, knowing we will probably not know the truth of it all for a long time, this quote was forwarded to me and as I read it I began to apply it first to my own life, and then it expanded out to include the world.

If we all lived with this in mind what a wonderful world it would be. Imagine B.B. King singing It’s a Wonderful World while you read the quote:
“If you want to shrink something,

you must first allow it to expand.

If you want to get rid of something,

you must first allow it to flourish.

If you want to take something,

you must first allow it to be given.

This is called the subtle perception

of the way things are.

The soft overcomes the hard.

The slow overcomes the fast.

Let your workings remain a mystery.

Just show people the results.”

-Tao Te Ching

Moment by Moment

For years I have been striving to awaken into each moment.  Not to miss the gift of life and presence as I have done in the past.
“The main event has never been the manifestation; the main event has always been the way you feel moment by moment, because that’s what life is.”    -Abraham

Now, something new is being added; not only awaking in each moment, but asking for soul alignment to be realized also.

I have to check in often as the days events can throw me off my center…..check in, see where I am, see if I am spiritually aligned.

It makes me feel bigger, then I get scared, and become smaller.  I see I have the choices of everything.  I like being bigger, rushes of energy flowing through me making me feel like I’m a star or a planet…………then back down to fear and smallness.

This time in my life is about stepping out.  I like it most of the time.

New Moon-Solar Eclipse September 11

Tuesday, September 11th is the New Moon-Solar Eclipse in High Minded Virgo. You might be feeling like you have been thrown into a blender of whirling and changing energies of all those old ideas that are time to let go of.

I am feeling this as if I were a pool in the forest and all the leaves that gently drop down to the bottom where they have begun decomposing are now being stirred up like a small child with a stick would do. It is difficult to see through the debris but I know when it settles the water will be fresher and much clearer.

Don’t be alarmed if the people around you are acting a little erratic, you may be too. :>(

Change is needed, let down your hair, try a new style, look differently at your world, grab those old patterns and shake them up to see which ones will stay and which will go.

Eclipses are about Endings and Beginnings-what needs to end and what needs to be birthed?

We are already feeling this and will continue strongly till the middle of September.

Now is the time to see what would make you happier!

I’ve written about an experience I had last fall many times because I was looking for a deeper understanding of what it meant to me and how I should understand it in this life.

I was re-reading After the Ecstasy, the Laundry, and there it was:

“Enlightenment does exist. It is possible to awaken. Unbounded freedom and joy, oneness with the Divine, awakening into a state of timeless grace these experiences are more common than you know and not far away. There is one further truth, however: They don’t last. Our realizations and awakening show us the reality of the world, and they bring transformation, but they pass.

We all know that after the honeymoon comes the marriage, after the election comes the hard task of governance. In spiritual life it is the same: After the ecstasy comes the laundry.”

Doing What We Love

As is so often the case, when I am working on some area of my life, a quote, phrase, book title or whatever, will drop into my lap.

With the intent to have my life be filled with passionate and joyfilled work, a deeper contentment in all my endeavors and the prosperity to do good works, this little ditty showed up in my mail bag this morning.

“Forget the resolutions. Forget control and discipline…too much work.

Instead try experimenting. Go in search of something to fall in love with…something about yourself, your career, your spouse.”

– Dale Dauten

I get it.

Discovering God’s Presence

I suppose that I have always had adjustment periods as I moved through the many  changed locations and ideologies of my life, I just don’t remember one that was such a long travail of darkness interspersed with God’s presence.

Joyce Rupp speaks so eloquently about the re-discovering of God’s presence in her life after a similar experience.  She had just read Genesis 28:17 about Jacob’s dream where he saw angels bringing him God’s promise of protection and safety.  When Jacob awoke from his dream in the wilderness he exclaimed:  “Truly Yahweh is in this place and I did not know!”

As I re-read this story I could apply it to the past 4+ years, where I continually wandered around in unfamiliar, unsafe and very lonely places, skipping over all the miracles and the rich spiritual experiences as if they were not there because what I wanted was not there.

My spiritual journey has been a continual reminder that God’s presence is always there no matter where there is.  It depends on my focus, which for me depends on aligning ego with my higher self so ego doesn’t become afraid.  The ego is a wonderful, amazing energy that keeps us moving through this physical life in strength and safety, but it won’t function in a way that makes us truly happy unless it is aligned with soul….with God’s presence.

“When you arrive at your future, will you blame your past?”

– Robert Half

What holds you back from being and doing more? In your journal, list what you believe is holding you back.

Have you blamed people or factors outside of yourself? It’s important to understand that ALL problems are rooted inside us. Even the blocks that appear to be outside of us are only reflecting back an issue we have inside that we have not yet owned. Once we address our inner issue, the outer situation no longer troubles us.

The buck always stops with us. We step into our power when we accept responsibility for our lives.

“The most self-destructive thought that any person can have is thinking that he or she is not in total control of his or her life. That’s when, ‘Why me?’ becomes a theme song.”

– Roger Dawson

“…look at that word blame. It’s just a coincidence that the last two letters spell the word me. But that coincidence is worth thinking about. Other people or unfortunate circumstances may have caused you to feel pain, but only you control whether you allow that pain to go on. If you want those feelings to go away, you have to say: ‘It’s up to me.’”

– Arthur Freeman

“Don’t make excuses — make good.”

Embrace the Wholeness

“Only when we can love hell will we find heaven.”        — Unknown source

People often view the spiritual path as a search for the light. In truth, spirituality asks us to bring light and darkness together in wholeness. And in fact, this is the only possible solution. In our world of duality, any effort to focus all attention on the light only serves to increase the power of the darkness. Our aim is not to deny or reject anything but to embrace it all.

“When you are able to contain both the light and dark together, that is a very enlightening state. It means that you no longer have to choose one experience over another. You do not have to choose love OR hate, blame OR forgiveness, sadness OR joy, anger OR openheartedness. You are no longer polarized; no particular feeling boxes you in and keeps you from the light of true self. You then have access to the full range of human experiences you came into this life to embrace.”
– Martia Nelson
