Ego Agenda

When my ego mind pretends to be my consciousness, it intellectualizes about other people’s egos. :>) It starts to feel a little superior and that’s when I know it is my own ego again.

Lately I have been spending a great deal of time observing the way mine and others egos work. Agenda would be the word I give to egos. Egos have an agenda. They want something. It doesn’t matter what that something is, they just need the energy of anything.

I observed myself recently at a small gathering once again taking the lead in conversation that had an agenda. My agenda, my egos agenda. It was quite revealing to me and half way through the discussions I wanted to back out and run away. I was embarrassed that I had started all these words that really didn’t mean anything. They sounded good and the group was quite involved in the discussion and I was sitting there in amazement by how we all thought this meant something.

Back to the drawing board.

Lost in Activity

I can easily be lost in activity. It seems to be a constant lesson in my life. When so much is going on all I have to do is what is before me, then, of course, the things I would like to develop sit on the drawing board.

I’m still not very good at discerning what is important, and what to discard. Sometimes those repetitive activities look to be the most important, while the distant dreams lie fallow in a field of paper.

This morning I am pulling out a dream, brushing it off, polishing it up and sending it up to heaven, just like a prayer.

Keep Informed

We are coming into a time of revolt. As Pluto moves into Capricorn (hasn’t been there since the Revolutionary War in 1750+) it is a time of reform. Oh, I don’t think we’ll be in the streets with guns and knives. I see it in the way so many organizations have popped up to de-mystify the lies of marketing in relations to just about everything we consume. Can’t trust ‘em anymore, and that’s ok, we let them get away with too much by not paying attention.

Well, now it is time and we are all paying a lot more attention from what we put on our tables to who we put in congress. And since we have a watermark election coming in the Fall, it behooves us all to get the facts. The facts of free election here in our country have been exposed for many years as simply not true. I have a good friend who helped in the Southern polls for the last major election and she brought back much information about how people were being kept from voting and lied to about how they could vote. I won’t even go into all the facts that were published about the rigged votes (see link below for articles)

Wow, right here in the good old US of A…….our country, our people. It is time to pay attention and get involved. Maybe that will be you buying locally grown products, maybe you are political and can volunteer in that venue, maybe you will learn how to communicate more lovingly thereby releasing anger issues……… is all the same, the evolution of us all on all levels of humanity.

One of the ways I can keep informed is to go to

From TruthOut, a taste of the article Election fraud:

“Mark Crispin Miller’s new book, “Loser Take All,” identifies and analyzes election fraud, the foundation of extremist power in the United States since 2000. Manipulated elections have enabled everything we’ve experienced from the Iraq war to the current economic meltdown. None of that would have been possible without the ongoing series of “surprise” wins for extremists and their enablers following the outright theft of the 2000 presidential election.

Miller illustrates his overarching analysis with a collection of carefully chosen essays. They map the rise of what key figures on the right and left refer to as tyrannical rule by the Bush – Cheney administration. Through a sequence of critical elections from 2000 on, Miller shows the particular outrages in each that enabled the retention and expansion of power. In doing so, he defines the basis for our current troubles.”

Another part that I can help with is teaching about Going Green and buying locally, watch for classes or find something for you to take part it. Get involved. -Sue

What Is Important?

After re-reading Pilgrim Of Love, a beautiful story of my Guru’s Guru, I find myself thinking of what is important.
It made me sad with longing for the years I lived at Kripalu Yoga Ashram in Sumneytown, Pennsylvania. What a time that was. It was fresh and cleansing and truly a healing balm for my ego/personality. It lifted me out of my daily routine and filled me with ecstacy. Ecstacy, wow, I haven’t felt that in a while. Maybe a pale shadow of that time, but not as grand. And work had a whole different meaning because all was done in service to God.
I need a tune up.
Since I don’t have an ashram to go to I’m looking around my home and thinking, hmmm, I need to redo this place so that it feels holier, so that I can be reminded to see the delight of God in everything.
Bapuji, dear Grandfather teacher, help me see the light of love in all the ways you did, especially when you would call your pen, sister pen, or your watch, brother watch, or pranam to the holiness of the river. Simple, elegant love respecting God in all things, not just some.

Blessed are the Meek

In the sermon on the Mount, Jesus makes a prediction that to this day few people have understood. He says, “Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth.” In modern versions of the Bible, “meek” is translated as*humble, and what does it mean that they shall inherit the earth?

The meek are the egoless. They are those who have awakened to their essential true nature as consciousness and recognize that essence in all “others”, all life-forms. They live in the surrendered state and so feel their oneness with the whole and the Source. They embody the awakened consciousness that is changing all aspects of life on our planet, including nature, because life on earth is inseparable from the human consciousness that perceives and interacts with it. That is the sense in which the meek will inherit the earth.

A new species is arising on the planet. It is arising now, and you are it! -Eckhart Tolle, A New Earth

*in Greek it means “awake”-Sue

Separation Creates Suffering

The ego creates separation, and separation creates suffering. The ego is therefore clearly pathological. Apart from the obvious ones such as anger, hatred, and so on, there are other more subtle forms of negativity that are so common they are usually not recognized as such, for example, impatience, irritation, nervousness, and being “fed up”. They constitute the background unhappiness that is many people’s predominant inner state. You need to be extremely alert and absolutely present to be able to detect them. Whenever you do, it is a moment of awakening, of disidentification from the mind.
Here is one of the most common negative states that is easily overlooked, precisely because it is so common, so normal. You may be familiar with it. Do you often experience a feeling of discontent that could best be described as a kind of background resentment? It may be either specific or non specific. Many people spend a large part of their lives in that state. They are so identified with it that they cannot stand back and see it. Underlying that feeling are certain unconsciously held beliefs, that is to say, thoughts. You think these thoughts in the same way that you dream your dreams when you are asleep. In other words, you don’t know you are thinking those thoughts, just as the dreamer doesn’t know he is dreaming.
Here are some of the most common unconscious thought that feed the feeling of discontent or background resentment:
* “There is something that needs to happen in my life before I can be at peace (happy, fulfilled, etc.). And I resent that it hasn’t happened yet. Maybe my resentment will finally make it happen.”
* “Something happened in the past that should not have happened, and I resent that. If that hadn’t happened, I would be at peace now.”
* “Something is happening now that should not be happening, and it is preventing me from being at peace now.”
Often the unconscious beliefs are directed toward a person and so “happening” becomes “doing”:
-”You should do this or that so that I can be at peace. And I resent that you haven’t done it yet. Maybe my resentment will make you do it.”
-”Something you (or I) said, or failed to do in the past is preventing me from being at peace now.”
-”What you are doing or failing to do now is preventing me from beaing at peace.”

Your Ph Factor in Health

I really like Dr. Vassey’s take on health and am implementing his Ph information. He starts simply with basic info that I’m sharing with you below. Enjoy these summer days, I could eat them like candy. Love, Sue

Over acidification of the body (cells, tissues & fluids) is the greatest contributor to illness.

Acidification leads to the buildup of toxins, as well as the growth of dangerous microforms like yeasts (Candida), fungi, and harmful bacteria.

This toxicity leads to stress, and eventual sickness. Modern daily diets and lifestyles create this morbid, acidic environment in your body.

I have found a direct correlation between acidification and a whole host of ailments in the body.

The pH level (acid – alkaline measurement) of your internal fluids affects every cell in your body.

Your body regulates its pH just like it regulates its temperature. In doing so, it will even create stress on other tissues or body systems if it must.

Since your blood MUST maintain a very narrow pH range of 7.365 To 7.40, your body will do all sorts of things in order to deal with excess acidity.

It will flush excess acids into fat cells (which is why you can’t seem to lose those extra pounds)….

Or, perhaps, it will leach calcium (an alkaline mineral) from your bones in order to neutralize acids.

Your body will also stress tissues by flushing acids into them (as is the case with gout) because it can’t dump these acids into the bloodstream (which must remain alkaline or you’d die).

Simply stated, chronic overacidity will interrupt all cellular activities and functions – it interferes with life itself.

When the pH of your body becomes (too acidic), you may experience low energy, fatigue, excess weight, poor digestion, aches and pains, and even more serious disorders.

The body becomes imbalanced and overly acidic primarily as a result of three things:

Eating too many acidifying foods create an acid ash in the body. These acids can overload your body’s ability to neutralize them.

An acidic environment is a breeding ground for toxic microforms. Since these organisms are living, they steal your nutrients, and create resulting acidic toxins.

The body uses many systems in order to buffer acids including breath, mineral reserves, and fat. When the body’s buffering systems become compromised, excess acids build up.

In order to realize proper pH balance, you must deal with every contributing factor to acidity.

The great news is that when you get your pH in balance, you have really set the stage for optimal health.

Vibrant health and energy are the direct result of a body that’s pH balanced
- Dr. Christopher Vassey

Giving Back

The Dailies this morning are about lending a hand and making a difference in the world, one person at a time. I have been a member of Kiva for a couple of years now and cannot describe the feeling I get when one of my loans is paid off and I get my money back and reinvest it right away! Thrilling.

I just made a loan to someone in the developing world using a revolutionary new website called Kiva (

You can go to Kiva’s website and lend to someone in the developing world who needs a loan for their business – like raising goats, selling vegetables at market or making bricks. Each loan has a picture of the entrepreneur, a description of their business and how they plan to use the loan so you know exactly how your money is being spent – and you get updates letting you know how the entrepreneur is going.

The best part is, when the entrepreneur pays back their loan you get your money back – and Kiva’s loans are managed by microfinance institutions on the ground who have a lot of experience doing this, so you can trust that your money is being handled responsibly.

I just made a loan to an entrepreneur named Sofia Magala in Uganda. They still need another $1,650.00 to complete their loan request of $1,700.00 (you can loan as little as $25.00!). Help me get this entrepreneur off the ground by clicking on the link below to make a loan to Sofia Magala too:

It’s finally easy to actually do something about poverty – using Kiva I know exactly who my money is loaned to and what they’re using it for. And most of all, I know that I’m helping them build a sustainable business that will provide income to feed, clothe, house and educate their family long after my loan is paid back.

Join me in changing the world – one loan at a time.

The State of Fish

It is a time when many people are concerned about what they eat. And just when people started embracing that more fish in the diet will help you feel better etc., all the reports about the toxic oceans with Mercury poisoning, over fished, etc. etc……..I was just about ready to quit eating fish altogether.

Facts are helpful to dispel myths, so here are a few “fish facts”:

Mercury Levels in Fish:

HIGH: Shark (over fished), Swordfish (over fished), Tuna (Yellow fin, Ahi, Albacore, Bigeye, canned), Tilefish, Orange Roughy, Marlin, Mackeral, Grouper, Bluefish

MEDIUM: Bass (striped, black), Carp, Cod, Lobster, Mahi Mahi, Halibut, Croaker, Monkfish, Perch, Sablefish, Snapper, Sea Trout, Canned Chunk Tuna

LOW: Anchovies, Calamari, Catfish, Clam (domestic), Cod (arctic), Crawfish/Crayfish, Flounder, Atlantic Haddock, Hake-Herring, Mackeral (N. Atlantic, Chub), Mullet-Oyster, Perch (ocean), Plaice-Polluck, Salmon, Sardine-Scallop, Sole (pacific), Tilapia, Trout (fresh water), Whitefish, Whiting

I’m pretty happy to hear that Salmon is low, of course that means WILD salmon and not farm raised. They just get too many parasites in those fish farms.

Off to buy a nice piece of salmon for supper, think I’ll marinate some portobella mushrooms, asparagus, baby turnips, onions in Olive oil with chopped fresh herbs from my garden, lemon juice, grated garlic and S & P and cook over an open fire tonight. MMMMMMM, don’t you just love good food!

And what about Shrimp?

Shrimp is America’s most popular seafood import, but you won’t find any shrimp recipes on these pages. Most wild shrimp are caught using destructive fishing practices that tear up ocean habitat and kill tons of unwanted fish, and most shrimp farms destroy natural swamps and wetlands and pollute the environment with antibiotics and pesticides. In restaurants, trap-caught spot prawns are a good choice, but you’re unlikely to find these at your local market. Some companies are making encouraging progress in reducing the harmful impacts of shrimp fishing (learn more here), but for now, we suggest saving shrimp for special occasions.

Pollution Outside and Inside

Unhappiness or negativity is a disease on our planet. What pollution is on the outer level is negativity on the inner. It is everywhere, not just in places where people don’t have enough, but even more so where they have more than enough. Is that surprising? No. The affluent world is even more deeply identified with form, more lost in content, more trapped in ego.

People believe themselves to be dependent on what happens for their happiness, that is to say, dependent on form. They don’t realize that what happens is the most unstable thing in the universe. It changes constantly. They look upon the present moment as either marred by something that has happened and shouldn’t have or as deficient because of something that has not happened but should have.

And so, they miss the deeper perfection that is inherent in life itself, a perfection that is always already here, that lies beyond what is happening or not happening, beyond form.

Accept the present moment and find the perfection that is deeper than any form and untouched by time.

The joy of Being, which is the only true happiness, cannot come to you through any form, possession, achievement, person, or event – through anything that happens. That joy cannot come to you – ever. It emanates from the formless dimension within you, from consciousness itself and thus is one with who you are. –Eckhart Tolle- A New Earth

The Dirty Dozen

Going Green and going organic are not a fad anymore. The indiscrimate use of pesticides has done so much damage to our planet, all you have to do is google for that information and tons of documentation will appear.

Sometimes when I’m shopping for fresh produce and the organic stuff doesn’t look as fresh or appealing as the other I read this list to myself, and thought I would share it with you.

According to the EWG, consuming the 12 most contaminated fruits and vegetables will expose a person to an average of 14 pesticides a day. Here is their shoppers guide:

The Worst (buy organic only)

Peaches; apples; sweet bell peppers; celery; nectarines; strawberries; cherries; lettuce; grapes; pears; spinach; potatoes

The Best: (wash well)

Onions, avocados; frozen sweet corn; pineapples; mangoes; sweet peas (frozen); asparagus; kiwis; bananas; cabbage; broccoli; eggplants.

And that doesn’t mean your organic produce doesn’t have some pesticide residue on it – it drifts over to the crops on the wind. So wash your produce well. I found a really nice wash at Whole Foods called Fit, which removes 98% more chemicals and wax than water alone. You only have to soak the produce for a couple of minutes, rinse and store. Easy

The Music Inside

I can do anything if I have to. But I don’t think that is what these times are about. Leading a fulfilling life has to be passionate for me to want to live it. If I am not excited about my work, life, relationships etc. I don’t want them anymore. The things that drag me down are being eliminated; sometimes by the Universe, and sometimes by me.

This process is not a very fast one, although some of the changes were startlingly fast and unprepared for. It is rather like pulling sticky vines off pant legs after a walk in the woods.

So, as it happens for me, when I woke this morning and picked up one of the books on my desk, this quote jumped off the page:

More people than ever before are resolving to find joy in their work, rather than just having a job. A calling or vocation (from the Latin vocare, “to call”) depends on the relationship between our souls and our work – the degree to which our work engages and nourishes our souls. People have recently discovered that the point of life is not to slave away for years until the age of 65 and they say, “Phew! Glad that’s over!” Rather, it is to make sure that we do not die with our music still inside us. –Lance Secretan in “Imagine”
