Archive for December, 2009
2009 is almost finished and I believe I speak for many when I say, it cannot go soon enough. Yes, there were some amazingly wonderful things that happened, but for the most part it was just plain hard in almost every area.
The New Years Eve is a Blue Moon (that is a 2nd full moon in a month-not usual) and also a Lunar Eclipse. Eclipses show us what is ending or will end soon.
We will feel the effects for several months for sure. And since Mars (power/strength) and Mercury (communications) are both retrograde, everything will slow down in those areas while we all have time to re-think and re-configure what we really want.
For all signs, this Eclipse will affect you:
ARIES-Home is highlighted, you need to be nurtured more, take a break.
TAURUS-Think kinder thoughts and you will receive that back. Slow it way down.
GEMINI-Start pulling up some old talents and see if they need to be in your life again.
CANCER-Time to re-invent your body/personality, join the gym and go out!
LEO-You may want to hang with your pride, but better to be off in a cave meditating.
VIRGO-Social friendships don’t really give you what you need-true friends do.
LIBRA-Career could use some re-thinking before the dam breaks in a few months.
SCORPIO-Foreign travel might be calling, but better wait til spring.
SAGITTARIUS-The mysteries of life and death can be pondered deeply now.
CAPRICORN-Relationships could use a rest, you need it.
AQUARIUS-Take a break from work and re-think your priorities.
PISCES-What makes your heart sing? Be creative and a little self-indulgent, you deserve it.
Due to our amazing Mother Nature I have had quite the pause to re-think and re-discover who I am these days. I certainly resisted at first. My lifestyle is so intense with caring for others that it has made me pretty uncomfortable to just be me.
By the second day of being completely snowed in with mountains of the lovely white stuff everywhere, I was able to be present for myself. What a lovely thing and I had so forgotten how great that feels. I was able to spend many hours re-organizing my jewelry bench, cleaning out all the dusty bead drawers and putting them in color order starting with red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple, white, black and browns……………wow, can’t believe how much pleasure that is giving me.
During this hiatus from “normal” life I have also had many hours of contemplation on what I want to do next. That would be personal life and work life.
Nothing is set in stone but I do feel a very strong sense of slowing it down a bit more. Do I really want to be so busy? Why don’t I get away more often? Why aren’t I doing more of what I would like to do?
Then comes the question, what do I really want to do with the rest of my life? Feeling a bit of urgency in that one as I search around to see if any of that is what I am currently doing. Hmmm………….
The nice thing is that I feel like I have come home inside myself once again after being away for a very long time. I think the rest will naturally fall into it’s own place. Sigh…………………………….Welcome 2010!
Found some great quotes on a website (sorry forgot which one), thought I’d share, my favorite is the Van Gogh……………
“If they’re in your life, love them.” -Mike Dooley
“I have disciplined myself so much in love, that now I don’t criticize, I don’t even think of his ups and downs, I just find his energy in everything, his love in everything.” – Joan Koppelman (on loving her husband)
“We are what our deep driving desire is. As your desire is, so is your will. As your will is, so is your deed. As your deed is, so is your destiny.” – From the Upanishads: Brihadaranyaka IV.5
“If you hear a voice within you say ‘you cannot paint,’ then by all means paint, and that voice will be silenced.” -Vincent Van Gogh
Uncertainty and mystery are energies of life. Don’t let them scare you unduly, for they keep boredom at bay and spark creativity. -R.I. Fitzhenry
There are some days when no matter what I say it feels like I’m far away in another country & whoever is doing the translating has had far too much to drink. -Brian AndreasNo comments
It’s an old theme about the real reason for the season and if I hear Jesus one more time…………………and I’m sure he feels the same.
So what can stir up feelings of goodness and giving and love and so on when we are faced with the pretty much same old, same old?
I usually get so caught up in the giving and making happy energy I forget it is also about receiving. What a concept….letting in the good and really receiving.
I’ve been feeling like I’m in a vacuum or limbo, which I don’t like and will start getting busy to avoid that place. True to form, I focused on making everyone else’s Christmas magical and then felt invisible.
A friend pointed out that it is not my responsibility to make everyone else’s Christmas magic and that I had forgotten about it being their responsibility to tune into the real nature of what we are all about-Love.
Oops, too late for that this year :>), so I can now gracefully back away into a little corner………. job done (almost) and open up to receive the Grace of the Universe into my own little Christmas.
Om Shanti, Shanti, Shanti, Peace, Peace, nothing but Peace…………Namaste to one and all!
Just some brief info on what we will all be experiencing for the time period of December 26 through January 15.
Mercury retrograde in the sign of Capricorn…….It is helpful to know that Mercury is the Winged Messenger which has to do with communications, thinking, how we access information, make decisions, and just basically how we view our reality.
Capricorn asks us to take a look at our role in this life and see if it serves our higher destiny and the world…..how are your foundations?…………Where could your boundaries be “shored up”?…………This is a test and you will be graded.
During this time period we will be given the opportunity to re-think and re-work how we “make it” in the world and if we have chosen the “right” path for our destiny this time around.
Look for many people that have been in jobs 20+ years to either be downsized (even more than has been going on) or to suddenly leave on a quest to find happiness elsewhere. We are all being pulled along in this evolutionary tug of war, or better yet, The Force, to be of service to ourselves and to humanity. Now is the time of the Great Surrender of Ego.
You will be pondering what exactly is your purpose and where is your power and where are you going.
I love Sagittarius’ philosophic outlook and expansive generosity and wisdom. I’m not too crazy about it’s tendency to go into denial about what is blatantly in front of it, oh well…………..time for all forms of growth……….This is the New Moon, so plant your seeds for some dreams you have let go of lately. Sagittarius loves a quest for some form of truth and understanding. Compassion for others is a lot easier at this time.
My friend Robert has this to say about today’s New Moon:
This New Moon at 25 Sagittarius will help us open to wider views, greater truths, productive philosophies, and imaginative experiences which will help us grow. Over the past 3 New Moons we’ve found wisdom amidst the passages by understanding Nature’s cycles and continued our journey away from “a narrow destiny” and “routine duties.” We’ve seen how to purify our personality so the Soul can come forth, and how to accept power or Grace to take the lead in our world. This one helps us bust loose from some old stuff forever, leaving us free to pursue higher awareness, however we define that.
This New Moon in Sagittarius is ruled by Jupiter. Given the extremely favorable sextile between the New Moon stellium in Sagittarius and the heavyweight stellium in Aquarius, expect major productivity in many areas of your life. Jupiter ruling the Lunation will assist the ability to demonstrate true detachment and dispassion, where we teach and/or learn from ours or others’ experiences.
Baking Soda, cheap, non-toxic and not only great to keep your ph properly in balance but I use it instead of comet and other abrasive cleaners. If we would all throw out our chemicals and use simple, non-toxic natural forms, our world would start to heal much more rapidly. Get over your addiction to chemicals, use things like baking soda, vinegar and ammonia instead.
I found this information on www.mercola.com, great stuff!! Read on…………Sue
According to the Materia Medica by Walter Bastedo, sodium bicarbonate taken internally can soothe your mucous membranes and dissolve thick mucus.
In their booklet “Arm & Hammer Baking Soda Medical Uses,” published in 1924, Dr. Volney S. Cheney recounts his clinical successes with sodium bicarbonate in treating cold and flu:
Recommended dosages from the Arm & Hammer Company for colds and influenza back in 1925 were:
• Day 1 — Take six doses of ½ teaspoon of baking soda in glass of cool water, at about two hour intervals
• Day 2 — Take four doses of ½ teaspoon of baking soda in glass of cool water, at the same intervals
• Day 3 — Take two doses of ½ teaspoon of baking soda in glass of cool water morning and evening, and thereafter ½ teaspoon in glass of cool water each morning until cold symptoms are gone
Further dosing recommendations and instructions for taking sodium bicarbonate can be found in Mark Sircus’ book Sodium Bicarbonate – Rich Mans Poor Mans Cancer Treatment, which is also available in Kindle edition.
According to Arm & Hammer’s dosing instructions, do not exceed seven doses of ½ teaspoon per day, or three doses of ½ teaspoon daily if you’re over the age of 60. In addition, do not use the maximum dosage for more than two weeks.
Baking soda (also known as sodium bicarbonate), popularized by Arm & Hammer some 155 years ago, is derived from a natural occurring mineral, and is one of the safest and most versatile substances around. In fact, if you search for “baking soda” on my site, you’ll find a number of articles detailing its potential uses, including using it as a:
• Household cleaner
• Sunburn remedy
• Alternative to toxic antiperspirants
• Sports performance enhancer
Few people realize, however, that baking soda also has potent medicinal properties. Taken internally, it helps maintain the pH balance in your bloodstream. This is likely the basic premise behind its recommended uses against both colds and influenza symptoms, and even cancer.
Something in me is stirring;I think it’s the part of me that waits in lonely exile and years for a homeland.
It’s the hidden part of me that wanders aimlessly, stumbling in the dark, crying to be found.
O God of exiles and strangers, find the homeless parts of me; guide them toward yourself, for you are my promised land.
Take the stranger inside of me and find familiar soil for it. Keep me mindful of the Emmanuel, whose sojourn brought a glimpse of home.

……..may be a little more difficult this December due to some hard aspects from our solar system. Whenever Mars (power/force), Pluto (deep power/transformation) and Saturn (responsibilities/foundations) team up we are all in for some hefty lessons in changing and letting go. And to top it all off we get a Mercury (messages/thoughts) retrograde (slow it down) December 25 till January 16.
We all have our own issues to heal/resolve/release and so does our city, country, world. This month is a good time to sit down with pen and paper and start identifying the things that really hold you back whether that is a person, a house, a car, your work, etc. Look realistically at any of these and see if there is a way to heal them. Brainstorm with yourself, call in your higher guides and angel and have a little spiritual roundtable of how best to move forward and expand in these very constrictive energies.
One of the most important things you can do for yourself this month is to take a deep breath before you speak, take the high road when it comes to judging others and keep your nose out of other people’s business unless asked.
You will be facing your “walls” this month and they need to be coming down with your help or not.
So, be compassionate and look around, many are having a very stressful time of it. As a great astrologer says, “….among other things, it’s a clash between the force of time and evolution and the force of inevitable change. Squares are gear grinds, producing either a braking action, a release, or a turning of a corner.” And another part of this Saturn square Pluto, “We are on the edge of a shift in history, a fulfillment of a great historical cycle, and the beginning of a decline that will last for a few years until the next conjunction down the road a piece. Governments, authoritarian systems, and control mechanisms will all break down over the next year while this aspect is prevalent.” –Wilkinson
Inevitable change is so much easier to work with consciously than to be hit over the head with. As Wilkinson says, “So things are spinning, ending, grinding, and turning corners. This period is bringing finality to whatever has been, and could never be. It’s time to take note of deep feelings and say goodbye to whatever, creating the space to attract things more appropriate to who we are. The trick is to be patient in refusing all that is not appropriate, and welcome that which is. So say goodbye and hello, release and welcome, and let go of whatever and whoever is being spun away. We are all in the whirlwind, and must learn how to dance on the edge of eternity. We have nothing to lose but our fear.”

Happy December Astrologically and all ways!No comments
One of my favorite teachers, Carolyn Myss, has completely “walked her talk”, so far as I can tell, in this life. I admire her forthrightness, integrity, grit and vision. Today when I opened the mailbox, there was a commentary on some changes she is making as it is her birthday. Like many of us, birthdays can be a marker for looking back over the past year and seeing where we’ve come, then looking forward and seeing where we might like to go next. It can be a time of inner purification if we choose. She does and I usually do too.
Today, she adds light to the ever perplexing being in the now/present moment. So, it’s a little long, but so worth the read:
“…………The truth is that wanting to be anywhere other than where you are or anyone other than who you are is a version of hell itself. All the great traditions teach their students – and I mean students genuinely devoted to inner illumination – to “get back here” – and now. There is only “now”, only present time, only this moment that counts in terms of what is “real” so far as you need to be concerned about. Indeed there is far more to this Universe and to the nature of God and this magnificent, endless cosmos than will ever be known to us – but so what? What has that to do with the here and now of your life? Nothing.
The essential challenge to the soul is not just to close your eyes and breathe deeply and say, “I am present and here I am,” and then open your eyes after the meditation, thinking, “That was a nice experience of the present moment. Now it’s back to being fragmented.” The goal is to live fully in the present moment, to connect the events unfolding around you within the perception that all events happening to and through you are somehow interconnected – not personally but impersonally, because that is the nature of the present moment. It is not the nature of your life because you are special and all things are happening to you, for you, and from you. They are unfolding and you are a part of a greater unfolding – a sphere of life that includes you.
The challenge I have decided to embrace is to reside within this mystical truth: “I am residing within the It and the All that I am seeking.” Or, to put this in more grounded terms, I’ve decided to move to It’s-Ville, where “it’s” all happening – at least for me. No more fragments going their own way, no more wanting to be anywhere other than exactly where I am, no more imagining that somewhere other than here is where I’m supposed to be. All that is exactly what Buddha taught so long ago: illusion. And I don’t want to be seduced by illusions any longer.
It’s all here and now – everything I need. Teresa of Avila taught, “Look for God in details” – in every detail of your life. How can you possibly do that if you project on your life that you are in the wrong place? I have listened to so many people share their conclusions that “something is wrong” with their lives and as the discussion progressed, their conclusion that something was wrong was based upon the polarities of happiness or sadness, pain or pleasure, patience or impatience, endurance or lack of endurance. Are these really the indicators that something is “wrong”? Or are they really indicators that a person simply does not like what the ingredients are in her life? A person has to be still and present to sense the energy field of the imbalance. An individual must then enter into the polarity to identify the reasons causing the imbalance and then, with great wisdom, discern what to do next.
Pain-pleasure or happiness-unhappiness or any of the countless other polarities that exist in life may or may not be indicators that we are in the wrong place. That is often far too superficial an interpretation of these grand psychic maelstroms. We must first look to the source of the imbalance – what is its cause? What are we generating from within? We must always go within first.
I have been profoundly influenced by the work of Teresa of Avila and John of the Cross, as so many of you know. The idea of moving to the Sacred Land of It’s-Ville is most certainly the consequence of hanging out in the rare air of mystical teachings for these past years. I do not believe I would have been inspired to move to the Sacred Land of It’s-Ville were it not for my realization and understanding that there is only the present moment; all else is distraction. My task is to manage the power and consciousness of my soul in this present moment. There is nothing missing from this present moment. The moment contains all “it” needs. It is up to me to recognize that:
• I am no longer searching for any other place but where I am.
• It’s all here in It’s-Ville.
• Maintaining the field of grace that is It’s-Ville is a full-time job – no more sending fragments of myself into the past or future to regret or fret.
• All things are interconnected in It’s-Ville. Nothing exists separate from anything else happening or unfolding in my life within the same moment: That is the nature of the law of interconnectedness. How we interpret this interconnectedness becomes the art form – and the more impersonal an eye we have, the better.
• The impersonal eye is the preferred lens in It’s-Ville, lest one risk becoming a narcissist. Life is not all about “me”; yet I must view “me” as the central participant in my life.
• “I have plenty” – plenty of what? Plenty of everything in It’s-Ville. I don’t need foolish mind games focusing on greed-based thought forms to draw in more stuff. Rather, my focus is on creativity and increasing my capacity to contribute to the whole.
• Reflection at the end of the day is a daily devotion. Where am I as I prepare for sleep? Am I shattered and fragmented or am I present in the moment? If I am shattered and fragmented, what am I prepared to do about that before I go to sleep?
• Blaming another person for my personal actions is not allowed in It’s-Ville because my choices and decisions come directly from me. I must refer only to myself – and as a point of reference, I refer to the seven shadow passions as a guide. All negative actions are rooted in one or more of the seven shadow passions. These are the source of why and how we fragment ourselves.
So – those are my rules for living in It’s-Ville. I’m just exhausted with thinking there is anything other than the present moment, and these conversations about how tomorrow is going to be better than the now are just boring nonsense. This is my gift to myself, that today is what we have to work with and we owe it to ourselves to give each day of our lives all we have to give.
I’m not kidding myself about the size of this challenge. I’ve slipped up several times already and I’m not even aiming for perfection, as if I care about that. But I am striving to find harmony within a higher mystical truth – which is that living in the present moment is all we have. I know from my work as a medical intuitive that clinging to the past makes you ill. It drains you of your spirit, and from that spins a list of negative consequences: depression, loss of creative instincts, anxiety attacks, a growing addiction to your historic self, a tendency to increase the emotional dimensions of your wounds in order to excuse why you are not acting on your present moment.”
Could be a wild ride tomorrow because, Uranus, that creative bad boy of the stars is moving faster and may unleash a lot of action in your life! Turn it into a great day for Christmas shopping or making gifts, baking cookies etc………….BE CREATIVE!
The Full Moon turns a quick mental response to all at hand, you will be thinking out of the box. Do be careful if traveling or even just driving around town, as Gemini rules transportation and if you aren’t grounded (the negative side of Gemini) you could be in a fender bender!
Open your heart for the Season of Love and Giving, volunteering is a wonderful use of this Full Moon energy…………………
Fa la la la la……..la la la la………………….
